BIRTH & DEATH:
Martin B. Hodges was born April 7, 1818 in Hopkins County, Ky and was taken by his parents in 1822, to Calloway Co, and in 1826 was brought to Graves Co where he has continued to resided to the present time. He is the Son of Drury Hodges, a native of Virginia, who died in Missouri. Drury's wife was Diana, Daughter of George Griffith, of Virginia. He was twice married and his children are Hiram, Miriam (Farmer), George W., James, Irvine, Anderson, Matilda (Swafford), subject(i.e. Martin B. per MDH), Barbara (Arant), Dinah (Davidson), and Mary. .... Death place also from Clair Davenport, 1425 Audubon Dr., Bowling Green, Ky 42101 Believe that he died in Scott Co., Mo. He had moved there with his daughter Matilda Hodges Swafford. Matilda died in Scott Co.

Bettie Tate was told by Gwen Meadows, Rt. 1, Boaz, Ky. that Drury's 2nd wife Ruth Means was a destitute young woman that he married to give her a home.

Susananh Hodges was the daughter of Edmund Hodges & Nepathia Walker, Susananh married John Slayden, who had among other children an Edmund Slayden born 2/13/1777 and died 11/9/1841 in Hopkins Co. KY. His grave has E. Slaton. He is named in his fathers will as Edmund Slayden, and in Edmond Hodges will as Edmond Slayton. Most Ky records show the spelling as Slaton. "Slaton family" book located in Madisonville, KY Library.
ADMINISTRATION JAMES HODGES ESTATE:
Drury Hodges served as administrator of James Hodges estate who died before 10-6-1807 when the administrator was given permission to sell Negroes from the estate. Administration was first given to Hiram Hodges with Natan Yoes and John Yoes his security, 7-7-1808 Drury Hodges was shown as the administrator. "Tennessee Tid Bits 1778-1914 Vol II".
Deed David London(sic.) to James Hodges for 640 Acres was proven by the oath of Robert Perry (maybe Terry) and ordered to be registered. "Robertson County TN. Court Minute Book 1 page 22." 10-6-1807 Ordered that the adm.(sic administration) of the estate of James Hodges Des(sic. Deceased) be at liberty to sell the personal property of the estate. "Robertson County TN. Court Minute Book 1 page 464."
10-6-1807 Letters of administration on the estate of James Hodges Des. (sic. Deceased) granted to Hiram Hodges who gave bond in the sum of five hundred dollars with Nathan Yoes & John Yoes his securities. And took the oath required by law. "Robertson County TN. Court Minute Book 1 page 466
